15th October 2020

Three suspects were killed, and a fourth was arrested, following a shootout with the Hawks in Malboro, north of Johannesburg.

The investigative crime unit says it received information yesterday about a vehicle that was going to be used in an armed robbery.

SABC news details that through the help of Gauteng Traffic Police and security companies, the vehicle was spotted on the M1 highway.

A shootout ensued when police tried to stop the vehicle, and the suspects opened fire.

The vehicle that the suspects used was revealed to be the same silver sedan that was used in a home invasion in Paulshof nearly 30 minutes before officers attempted to pull it over.

The vehicle had false registration plates and was also found to be involved in a home invasion in Parkview.

Two firearms were recovered from the scene, one of which had its serial number filed off.

The arrested suspect is due to appear in court on charges including attempted murder and house robbery.
