More taxi violence in KZN: taxi boss killed, pupils wounded

IPSS Medical spokesperson, Paul Herbst, said that emergency teams were alerted to an incident near the Amatikilu Bridge, on the R102 north of Durban.

A taxi owner was shot dead, found approximately 75 meters from his car, which had been riddled with bullets.

Herbst reported that the man was declared dead on the scene as he had sustained several gunshot wounds to the head.

Provincial police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, reported that two pupils were in the vicinity of the shooting and also sustained injuries but, they were quickly rushed to the hospital.

The Nyoni SAPS have opened an investigation for charges of murder and attempted murder.

Taxi violence incidents have run rampant in KwaZulu-Natal, with June seeing 5 taxi owners being killed just days apart.
