16th October 2020

Police Minister Bheki Cele and Minister of State Security Ayanda Dlodlo have arrived at the Senekal Magistrate's Court, where two suspects are due to appear to stand trial for the brutal murder of farm manager Brendin Horner.

The areas surrounding the court has been filled primarily by EFF members and its leadership who have been chanting "phantsi ibhunu, phantsi," as they await address from EFF leader Julius Malema, who is joined by Deputy Floyd Shivambu.

ANC, AfriForums, and farmer groups have also made appearances around the courthouse as police expected.

Barbed wire fences are being used as barricades to separate groups, and police have made their presence and intent on maintaining order clear, with helicopters and water cannons on patrol.

Members of an organization called the Kommandokorps were involved in a standoff with EFF members but, the situation was quickly defused by police before it became violent.
